He is 58.
Yura is totally blind, as a couple of years ago, somebody squirted him in the eyes with some unknown liquid or pepper spray. He went blind in one eye immediately after that, and six months later, he became completely blind.
Yura used to sit in the underground passage near the Bessarabka market, asking for money. Other homeless people took the money and brought him soup and bread. Yura was brought to us by a taxi driver who was touched by his situation.
Yura became homeless after his brother and aunt “helped” him sell his apartment back in 2013.
Apart from blindness, Yura has other medical issues: the toes on one foot were frostbitten and amputated, and the wound won’t heal because it got frostbitten 
again.
Now, Yura is in our shelter, and we have already started the process of restoring his documents. We want to take him to a doctor to get an official diagnosis and an expert opinion – hopefully, his sight can be restored.
