Fastovets Oleksandr Pavlovych, born in 1951

He was born and almost all his life lived in Poltava region, in the city of Hadiach.

He left school and vocational technical school, got a job as a tractor driver. Then he got married, two daughters were born.

In 1988, he divorced his wife, started drinking and in 1990 went to prison for disorderly conduct.

It was at the times of the USSR, so he was sent to Nizhnevartovsk, beyond the Arctic Circle.

Four years later he returned home. Then he worked on the farm, cohabited with a woman.

But she died three years ago, and Oleksandr’s health condition became worse – he began to go blind, it was difficult for him to move on his own.

This fall, Oleksandr’s neighbours found him in the house, where he lay and could not get up. He had no food, he was dying  slowly.

The neighbours who found him (elderly people with disabilities) started bringing him food and tried to find him a place in a boarding school with the help of social services. But it turned out that Oleksandr could not confirm his citizenship, since in 1991 he was in Russia.

He does not have a passport; there is no Oleksandr for the state either.

Now he is with us.
