Shelter for those in need in Batumi

Hi everyone!

We are currently on vacation in the country of Georgia, city of Batumi.
Our friends rented us a flat next to Batumi Charity House (smiley) (how bout that)!
At first we just walked by it, but then we realized it is a social institution of special kind!
We met with the director, got aquainted with several of the residents. We learned a lot about this place and the work they do (smiley)
This is the Elderly people home! It can host 120 residents with 10 beds available for new people.
More than half of the wards are homeless or people in crisis. Majority of the residents are homeless people or those in hard life situation.
About 60 of them are bed-ridden.
The Elderly people home was built on the funds provided by the Government of Japan. Georgia authorities provided funds from the local budget for the internal works and furnishing of it.
Operating funds are provided by the local budget (50%) and The Orthodox Church of Georgia (50%). The Director of the Elderly people Home is the Orthodox priest.
Hey, Kiev City Major`s office and Ukrainian Orthodox Church, do you mind supporting similar project in Kiev? The need is great.

P.S. By the way, last year, together with Григорій Кравцов (Gregory Kravtsov), we submitted the proposal to the Посольство Японії в Україні / 在ウクライナ日本国大使館 / Embassy of Japan in Ukraine in Ukraine and expect a response this October. Hoping it will be positive )
