Useful information for anyone who helps homeless people!!!

Now when it is cold, more people began to ask up to help one or another homeless person.

All the homeless have similar fate – they found themselves on the street, all alone.
HOWEVER the reasons why they got into this situation are often different.

In order to really help a person out of a bind, s/he needs to get some help in resolving the problem which brought the person into the street.

In our opinion, the main causes of homelessness are:
— alcoholism (and consequently, the loss of work and property)
— inability to form social ties, most often, because of the ill temper of some of them (and as a result, broken relationships with their families, lack of friends)

If in the case of alcoholism, there could be only one algorithm of assistance – providing the opportunity to undergo a rehabilitation course, then in the case of the children kicking out their old parents of the house, it may be returning their parents home with the help of the police.
It could be so that a person has lost his job and home due to certain health issues, he can be treated a little and helped to find a job, etc.

Here is a list of questions that will help you to diagnose a person’s problem and protect yourself from possible infection with lice, tuberculosis, etc.

1. A person’s history. How come he is in such a big trouble (is there an alcohol addiction)?
2. Are there any relatives / friends ready to help him? (it’s always cool to get help from someone else)
3. Does he have any documents and what exactly?
4. If he is disabled, what disease caused it?
5. Was he in jail?
6. Are there any problems with the law now? And whether he is wanted currently.
7. Was he sick with tuberculosis? When was he last chest X-rayed?
8. Are there any other diseases we should know about? Scabies, lice, epilepsy, chronic asthma (you will need to constantly buy medications)…
9. AND THE MAIN ISSUE: Does a person want a radical change in life? Or is he just in need of an overnight stay, food, clothes, or work?

May God help you to help others!
