Natalia Radiuk

Recently we met with Natalia Radiuk again. Last year one of our volunteers found her on the steps of the underground crossing near Sviatoshyn metro station. She did not have any food for three days.

Her story is tragic – she moved to Kyiv from Ternopil region, worked at the café washing dishes. Natalia lived in the same room with elderly lady. Lady needed care and Natalia was her caregiver. Having little income in both places Natalia managed with her life.

Tragedy came when that lady died and soon after Natalia got ill and she could not work any more. The room she lived in was put on sale by the owners. When Natalia learned about it, she left all her belongings and documents there and walked away. She was wondering the streets of Kyiv for a month and only then she realized how hopeless is her situation.

That time our volunteer offered to help her. When she came to the House of Mercy, residents told her she was so skinny they could learn anatomy looking at her. A week later her feet became swollen and we had to take her to the hospital and pay for her treatment. Natalia get well soon.

Later we transferred her to the rehabilitation center where staff helped her to return to life in community. Now she works and rent her own apartment.
Lord, bless her life!
