Valentyna Petrivna Marchenko has worked as a conductor on the railway all her life. She had only one relative – a sister, but now she had already died.
She lived in Berezniaky in a one-room apartment. But she dreamed of moving to the village to be closer to the ground. She says: I am rural – I could never become an urban one. The scammers played that card.
Once she met a woman at a market where she always bought food. Seeing each other, they always talked about things and stuff.
Then this woman asked Valentyna Petrivna to rent her a bed for a month, and she let her into her home. After some time, she suggested that Valentyna Petrivna lend her the apartment and move to her own house in the village for the summer instead. Valentyna Petrivna was certainly delighted with such a swap and agreed.
She moved to the village, got the house and the courtyard organized, planted a vegetable garden… and after a couple of months the owner of the house arrived and drove her out… It turned out that the house belonged to another person.
She rushed to Kyiv, and there was another door in her apartment, a stranger opened it and showed her the documented proof of ownership. He bought this apartment.
All her property were taken to a landfill while she was staying in the village.
So the 74 year old woman became homeless. Soon she lost her passport. She wandered around Kyiv and lived under her house. Under her former home.
Now we are getting her passport re-issued, then we are going to arrange for her to be put in a private nursing home.
